LLC Retreat Fancy Butterflies Card

LLC Retreat, Project #22
This unique card was designed by Sue Kohler (her blog here). Stamped message used is from Kimono Marci with Tea found in the La-la Land Crafts on line store here. Dies used are: Fancy Butterflies, Filigree Crown, and Honeycomb.  Finished card size is 5-1/2" x 5-1/2. Card base is white color and the dies are cut using white card stock except the butterflies. More details below in the photos.
This technique may seem simple but it is a bit more labor intensive with beautiful results.  First, the Butterfly die is used on the popped up white card stock mat, then the color butterfly dies are made. You need as least two of them popped up with foam squares for each section to layer on to the spot where the die cut was made on the white card base.  Then put the "puzzle" back together to achieve this unique look.  Adding adhesive flat back bling is the final embellishment.

See the layers of the butterflies when the wings are propped up?

This card was designed by Irina from La-la Land Crafts. Her projects are never a disappointment at all - they are very detailed and professional looking. Year of the Sheep

Today is the start of the Chinese Lunar New Year: Year of the Sheep (Ram).  I am so lucky to have this cute stamp from Dandelion MC 54 to make these quick treats for some special friends. You can find this stamp and other really cute stamps here.  And, want to keep up on the latest inspirational projects, be sure to check out the Dandelion Designs Blog found here. Aren't they all just adorable?

The image is stamped and then embossed with clear embossing powder. Copics colors used are: W0, W2, W4, E11, E00, R21. I did use a Stamp Positioner to ensure the sheep and the words are aligned. In addition, the Asian Sheep Character and the words are stamped with Momento Ruby Ink, then clear embossing powder applied over it. Cut the finished image using the Spellbinders Large Octagon die. The gold mat is hand cut - not too challenging. Add a few randomly placed gold sequins using Glossy Accents to adhere. Pop the whole thing with foam squares. Wrap a gold cord around the top twice, tie a bow, add a drop of Glossy Accents to secure know. These packages are 3-3/4" x 3-3/4" square. The cut file can be found in the Silhouette Store.
Here you can see the clear embossing on the Momento Black ink, giving the sheep more dimension.
Pull out to reveal a Golden Chocolate foil covered treat with some embossed Zodiac images:
 Isn't this so cute?
They are stacked and easy to give out (just like the real Lai See money!)

LLC Retreat Drummer Boy Luka Christmas Greetings Album

LLC Retreat, Project #17
This was an amazing project designed and taught by Irina of La-la Land Crafts.  We were so blessed with this cool project!   Isn't it just amazing?  The finished album size is 6-1/2" x 6-1/2".  Ever wonder how to efficiently use those printed 12x12 sheets of paper with cuts that are 3" x 6" tags?  This is the perfect album to make.  There are lots of details to making this album.  The popped up front cover has a pattern acetate behind the cut scalloped oval (made using the Stitched Elements die), which is dotted using a Gold Viva Pen all around. In the oval is a Christmas Hill Boarder used as a background, too
Here is Drummer Boy Luka popped with foam squares off to the size of the oval opening. Copic colors used were given in the class although I did changed some of the colors  to my favorite red and brown shades (along with Luka being  brunette).
On the front bottom right corner are the Poinsettias - they are a die which can be found in the La-la Land Crafts on line store here. Each corner in the front uses the Filigree Corner die cut in Burgundy Red card stock.. Use a Gold Viva Pen to dot the centers of the poinsettias and parts of the Filigree Corner makes a nice finishing touch.
Here is the "crown jewel": this is a pull out section behind the front cover. It is using the Lattice Doily Boarder Die, cut twice and offset to create this effect. Then adding dots of the Gold Viva Pen at the crosshatches.
Here is the Lattice Boarder die pulled out to show a mat for journaling or a photo:
And, oh yes, there is a decorative tag that pulls out from the side:
The back side of the tag: that oval is the scraps from cutting the front cover oval.  The strips of paper are also scraps. The tab is a die cut using the Stitched Elements die.
Time to open this album: flip the front cover up to reveal these pages:
Now flip the page to the left to reveal inside more tag pages:
This concept can be easily adapted to other 12x12 papers that have tags within them.  Size adjustment will make this concept work well and be memorable to anyone who receives it.  Thank you for stopping by to visit - stay tuned for more projects from the La-la Land Retreat.

LLC Retreat Paper Doll Marci (Winter) Zentangle Fun

Day 2, LLC Retreat Project #16
Original card using the Zentangle style is designed by Debbie Pamment (her blog here). I gave it much thought about this style of card making or freehand creative illustrating. The Zentangle style was to be on Paper Doll Marci (Winter) Hat, Sweater, and along the left side of the card. Not for me, so I decided to change up this card with some paper piecing. Note Paper Doll Marci (Winter) can be found here in the La-la Land Crafts on line store.
I added a red pattern paper mat on top of the black card stock.  The white pattern card stock is popped with foam squares after the edges are distressed and glittered with Stardust Stickles
I kept the talk bubble, included in this card, which is a La-la Land Crafts die called Stitched Elements which can be found here.  The Stampin-Up Small Oval punch fit perfectly for this stamped message.
Clear Wink of Stellla is painted on the small flowers (these flowers included in the Paper Doll Marci (Winter) stamp set).  for some subtle shine.
